Bike Cleaning & Our Neighbors #1


After our grand week-long bike tour of southern Benin, my bike was in desperate need of maintenance. I took advantage of a free afternoon to give it a thorough cleaning. Naturally, I attracted a crowd. Several of the kids who live in our concession gathered around and “helped” me by grabbing the chain as I rotated it, rolling the wheels around the yard, pushing on the frame, and staring at me. Still, they are my friends, and it was nice to have the company. This is me with Roget, who has amazing karate and dance moves and is pretty good at cartwheels.
